OVERVIEW
Jester and the Box is a cozy puzzle adventure created as the final project for the Game Design & UX program at Futuregames. Developed by a team of six students, the game follows a whimsical journey where players solve environmental puzzles alongside the mysterious box companion, Lorenzo.
The project was designed around a predefined player persona, influencing everything from the game's pacing and puzzle design to its visual readability and player guidance. This provided a strong foundation for creating an accessible and cohesive player experience.
MY ROLE
My role spanned multiple disciplines throughout the project. I was responsible for modeling and UV mapping all 3D assets used in the game, working with textures created by our 2D artist. I also contributed to the overall game design, assisted with level design, and did environment design for three of the game's levels.
In collaboration with another programmer, I also implemented several gameplay systems and interactions in Unreal Engine, including doors, pressure plates, elevators, and the box recall mechanic that supports the game's core puzzle gameplay.

Environment Assets
I created a modular set of environment assets that could be reused throughout the game while maintaining a consistent visual style. Below are examples of the individual assets alongside screenshots showing how they were combined to build the final environments.
Environment Art
While the level layouts had already been established, I was responsible for dressing and lighting three of the game's environments: the starting area, the lakeside, and the final castle. Using the modular asset library I created, I transformed each blockout into a finished environment with its own atmosphere and visual identity.
