ABOUT ME
NIKLAS LIMAN

HELLO!
I'm Niklas, a Game & UX Design student at Futuregames with a passion for creating engaging gameplay, immersive worlds, and memorable player experiences.

WHERE IT STARTED
Growing up in the late '80s, I was more or less born with an 8-bit controller in my hands. From the Nintendo Entertainment System to the Nintendo 64, I became fascinated not only by the games themselves, but by how their worlds, mechanics, art direction, and music came together to create unforgettable experiences. At the same time, growing up in a creative family sparked my own passion for drawing, creating, and eventually experimenting with digital art.

FROM HOBBY TO GAME DESIGN

That curiosity quickly evolved into making my own games. I started by designing board games for my brothers and friends, learning through trial and error how game mechanics, visual presentation, and player feedback all shaped the experience. Later, I discovered Klik 'n Play, where I spent countless hours building small games, experimenting with ideas, solving problems, and discovering the joy of bringing interactive worlds to life. I was also introduced to level design through creating my own maps for Quake and Duke Nukem 3D, which sparked an interest in building spaces for players to explore!

BEFORE GAME DEVELOPMENT

Before pursuing game development full-time, I spent nearly 15 years in retail, eventually managing the gaming and computer departments. This also gave me the opportunity to work with many of the game publishers whose titles we sold, giving me valuable insight into the industry from another perspective. Working with games every day and helping customers find the right experiences also taught me a lot about different player preferences, while strengthening my communication, leadership, and collaboration skills.

TODAY

Today, I enjoy working across multiple disciplines, combining game design, level design, 3D art, and environment art to create polished gameplay experiences. Whether I'm designing mechanics, building levels, creating assets, or building environments, I enjoy seeing ideas evolve from concept to a finished, playable experience.
